Somewhere out There

Sitting next to the river on a busy street, I get consumed with the overwhelming noise of the day. In a moment that feels as if scripted, my eye catches the picture painted on the water. The reflection of grand buildings reaching up to the heavens. For a second I am dwarfed by their size, and I tell myself that I will never be such a great man, that can conceive these giant structures. But as I gaze up in thought, I remember that even the largest of buildings were all built the same: one brick at a time. This gives me comfort as I am part of something bigger, and hopefully something that someone somewhere will also gaze upon in the rippled reflection of time and wonder what is hidden behind those high walls and windows.
