In shadow he waits, but he is not hidden. “Silent Witness” renders a young primate whose gaze holds court. The luminous amber eyes do not blink, do not accuse, they record. Every strand of fur, every weathered line in the timber beneath him, is evidence. Of time. Of loss. Of survival.
Drawn in graphite and charcoal, the work strips colour away to leave only truth: the quiet dignity of Africa’s wild, and its right to be seen without words. He has no voice in our courts, our boardrooms, our borders. So, he offers the only thing he has. His witness.
The silence here is not empty. It is heavy with what has been seen. Fires. Chainsaws. Empty branches where kin once moved.
And now, he turns that gaze on us.
“Silent Witness” asks the one question art was made to ask: Who is truly watching whom? For collectors of contemporary realism, this is craftsmanship in service of conscience. A soul, documented. A verdict, suspended in amber.
