Creating a self-portrait became an opportunity to slow down and truly reflect on myself. When I look into a mirror, I am not only seeing my physical appearance, but also confronting the person behind the reflection. The process made me more aware of the small details in my face, the changes that have taken place over time, and the emotions that are often hidden beneath the surface.

A reflection can feel familiar, yet strangely distant. We see ourselves every day, but rarely take the time to really observe who we are. Through this self-portrait, I wanted to explore the difference between how I see myself and how I may be seen by others.

Rather than trying to create an idealised version of myself, I wanted to capture an honest representation of the person looking back at me.

The self-portrait is therefore not simply a study of my face. It is a study of self-awareness, identity, and the relationship between the person I see and the person I understand myself to be. The mirror becomes a space for reflection — both physically and emotionally.
