The very long but dead deep-sea fish in the front is an Oar-fish, also known as a "doomsday fish", associated with impending natural disasters such as earthquakes. In the Japanese culture it is seen as a harbinger of bad news. The artist uses this fish to symbolise all the warnings about climate change and the impending climate disasters. The painting is the final result and the worst-case scenario of ignoring those warning signs. A similar fate will befall other animals that are symbolised by the pool animals. Humanity won't be able to survive and all that is left are the mannequins crying for humanity.
