Blue Morning Light

Blue Morning Light explores the quiet beauty of a still-life moment illuminated by the cool, gentle light of morning. The deep blue bowl becomes the focal point, its polished surface capturing and reflecting the nearby window, the lavender, and the surrounding light.

I was particularly interested in the reflections on the blue glass—how the window breaks into luminous shapes and vertical highlights, while the colours of the lavender and fruit are softly echoed across its curved surface. These reflections give the bowl a sense of transparency, depth and life.

The warm ochre background and cool blues create a strong contrast, suggesting the meeting of warm interior space with the fresh light of a new day. Through this painting, I wanted to capture the stillness of morning and the ever-changing language of reflected light.
