Wolter van der Ham

At a young age I attended art classes and was educated in different mediums including, watercolour painting, charcoal drawings, and acrylic paintings. These art classes helped lay the foundation from which my work developed today.

After I matriculated, I started a career in the technical field, and obtained various qualifications in my 20-year career journey.

In 2008 I purchased a Microlight plane and obtained my Private Pilot’s licence.

As this was a new adventure of artistic freedom, my artistic eye saw so many different mediums which I could take photos off to later transfer onto my canvas.

During my photography sessions I started taking photos of other aeroplanes, and my work was seen

by SA Flyer magazine, and my photos were published nationally.

In 2009 I dabbled in graphite pencil artwork and chose still life female figures and covered seemingly

infinite ground with my artwork.

In 2018, I changed direction and started with acrylic palette knife paintings.

The mixing of different colours and applying the paint with a flexible steel blade, enabled me as an

artist to add texture, richness, different techniques, and enhanced to my work tremendously.
