I was born on Aliwal North in the Eastern Cape, but grew up on a farm in the Free State. Hence my love for nature and especially landscape painting. I am currently residing in Pretoria, South Africa and are married with three children and two grandchildren.
I have been exploring, studying and generally immersing myself in all thing's art related for the past five years and, during this time have had tuition in various disciplines. Not only have I attended workshops given by South African artist, Shirley Howells, Ruth Walters and, notably the Master artist Rene Snyman, but I have also attended workshops given by the renowned Australian Artist Colley Whisson and Master Californian Artist Jennifer A McChristian, both of whom ignited my interest, later to become a passion, for plein air painting.
I am currently attending classes with international acclaimed artist Miemie van der Merwe who spent three months at the Cite Internationale des Arts, where she also had an exhibition at Gallery III in Harstad, Norway with Lucas Bambo. Not to mention Annelise Bowker who also exhibited in Romania, Japan and Paris,France etc.
I am a South African artist and daughter of the soil, and all things related to nature, and the natural progression has therefore been to pursue the discipline of plein air painting as my main direction, although I also have a love for depicting still life items, floral arrangement and all things paintable.
